Through public speaking and communication coaching, I help lawyers build credibility—so their communication aligns with the reputation they intend to build.
Communication doesn’t just shape how attorneys are perceived—it shapes the opportunities, trust, and professional reputation they build over time.

I’m Cara Graham.
Founder of Above the Bar Advocacy and former trial attorney.
I’ve built my career communicating in high-stakes environments—where credibility is everything. Originally from Texas, I attended law school in Portland, Oregon, where I built my family, career, and home for nearly 15 years.
Over the course of my legal career, I handled more than 50 trials in the Portland metro area, including both jury and bench trials, and worked on cases involving domestic violence, juvenile law, and complex family dynamics- areas that required clear thinking, steady presence, and the ability to navigate emotionally charged situations with grace and precision. I later built and ran my own successful law practice before relocating with my husband and daughter to Arkansas to be closer to family.
Before law, I was an award-winning public speaking and communication teacher—and that foundation remains at the core of everything I do. I’ve repeatedly performed under pressure when the consequences are real, and I have the proven teaching ability to help others do the same.
Today, I work with attorneys as a public speaking and communication coach, helping them become more confident, credible, and effective communicators in high pressure professional settings.
Your communication becomes your reputation—and I would love to help you strengthen yours.

Why This Works
Not theory. Real-world experience.
My communication coaching is grounded in real experience as a trial attorney—not abstract speaking techniques.
I’ve stood in courtrooms, worked with clients in difficult situations, and communicated when the stakes were high. I understand the pressure—and what it actually takes to communicate effectively in those moments.
This isn’t about becoming a different person.
It’s about becoming a more credible, confident version of yourself.
